Representing the profession

All BACP members are representatives of the profession through their clinical practice and relationships with other healthcare workers; those who also formally represent counselling and/or counsellors at local NHS meetings can contact BACP if they require information to support this work.

Some BACP members may have concerns about a lack of NHS-funded counselling in their locality and they might consider lobbying their Member of Scottish Parliament (MSP) to:

  • Ask what their party would do to increase counselling services in Scotland?
  • Inform them about the local need for counselling provision and mental health services

BACP offers guidance to members who are interested to make contact with their MSP, please email the Parliamentary & Public Affairs Advisor martin.bell@bacp.co.uk
