Making the case for counselling in NHS Scotland

BACP is committed to supporting its members as they come under increasing pressure, both financial and ethical, due to cutbacks and reductions in counselling & psychotherapy service provision resulting from national policy, whilst also working with complex cases often due to the economic situation. BACP has compiled a paper to give guidance to members working in NHS Scotland which will enable them to source the information necessary to support them in making the case to continue providing their service. This paper contains:

  • facts and figures
  • information about modalities and access to services
  • what the public thinks
  • the context of the NHS policy and how it applies to practice
  • research evidence
  • NHS standards for provision
